The Solent has the largest concentration of yachts in the UK, and follows therefore, that it also has the greatest number and variety of charter yachts available for hire at any given time. But it really is worth spending some time thinking about what you want to achieve and experience from your sailing or powerboat charter, before you even start to think about the type of boat that you might get, or the yacht charter company that you might hire it from.

It is easy to assume that friendships built around evenings out, or days at the office will work out just as well in the cramped accomodation of a yacht with less privacy than you may be used to.

If you are thinking about a Solent Corporate Event or team-building exercise, then you may want this to coincide with a marine event in the Solent, such as Cowes Week, one of the many Solent regattas, a visit from the Tall Ships, or an International Boat Show. On the other hand, you may not, as charter prices will be higher during such times, and the queues longer. Just take into consideration the timing of your planned Corporate Event, and the implications when you book.

Also, take into consideration how you will be travelling to the Solent, and what areas of the Solent you intend to sail in. For example, if you are flying to Southampton, then a charter from Lymington might not be the most convenient place to get to. Alternatively, if you want to sail in the Solent, and see the Jurassic Coast, then Lymington would be an excellent place to start.
